About the Newly Added Feature - Generate Document

Dear Yeeflow Community,

I am thrilled to see the addition of the Generate Document action! It’s clear this will be a powerful feature that will benefit all Yeeflow users. However, I have a few questions regarding its capabilities.

Currently, it appears that the feature is limited to generating PDF files from Word templates. I am curious if it supports other file types, such as Excel. Additionally, while the Yeeflow Support site mentions that this node can populate both Word and PDF templates with form or workflow variable data, it seems that only Word templates are selectable and can be generated at this time.

Please let me know if I am mistaken, and I look forward to your response.

Best regards,
Sen

Hi @sen,

Thank you for your excitement about the new Generate Document action and for sharing your questions!

To clarify, the current version of the Generate Document action supports generating documents using one or multiple Word template files. The output file can be kept in the Word format (DOCX) or converted to PDF, based on your needs. Essentially, the feature allows:

Word template(s) to a single Word document

Word template(s) to a single PDF document

As of now, it does not support generating documents from Excel templates or other file types. However, your feedback is valuable, and we are continuously working on enhancing the feature set. Supporting additional template formats is something we may consider in future updates.

If you have any other suggestions or questions, please feel free to share. We appreciate your input!

Renger.

Great addition, Renger! I’ve been using the Generate Document action to produce reports, and it’s been a fantastic tool overall. However, I encountered some challenges when working with images. Specifically, coordinating the image size in the form and the resulting image in the PDF can be tricky.

The current lack of precise control over image sizing options on both ends often leads to a trial-and-error process to achieve a decent output. It would be incredibly helpful to have more refined controls to specify the expected image size directly in the Word template. Additionally, options to define how the image should be handled—whether cropped, stretched, filled, or scaled proportionally—would make this process much smoother and efficient.

I believe these enhancements could significantly improve the usability and output quality for users working with image-heavy documents. Thanks for considering this suggestion!

Hi @mauro.roa, Thank you for your feedback! We’re currently working on improving image display in generated documents to maintain the actual aspect ratio.
