# Guidance Needed on Configuring Relative Period Filter

Hi everyone,

I’ve successfully set up the Relative Period filter, but I’m unsure about the next steps. Do I need to configure temporary variables to define the start and end dates in order to use them as filters, or is there a different approach I should follow?

If possible, could you provide an example to help clarify the process?

A new filter variable will be created while Relative Period filter is added to form. You can simply configure the filter variable in search conditions with field equals to filter var.

Thanks Frank, problem resolved. Filters are a great tool for showing data.
